Early In-Person Voting and Voting by Mail General Election 2024, Nelson County VA, 2024

In Virginia you have several ways to vote once you are registered. Here’s some information to help you vote in this election by mail or early in-person.  

 You must register to vote no later than Monday, October 15 by 5:00 PM in person at the Registrar’s office or by 11:59 PM online at the Department of Elections or you can check your voter status at  https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation/Lookup/status

           In-Person Early Voting

In-Person Early Voting will be available at the Registrar’s Office, 571 Front Street, Lovingston, VA for the November 2024 General Election starting September 20, and will continue until November 2, Monday through Friday from 9:00-5:00. The Registrar’s office will also be open for Early Voting on two Saturdays - October 26 and November 2, from 9:00-5:00.

Voting by Mail

You can apply for a Vote-by-Mail Ballot at the Department of Elections website https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation/Lookup/absentee no later than 5 pm on Friday, October 25, 2024, or by visiting the Registrar’s office no later than 5 PM Friday, October 25, 2024.  Ballots will be mailed between September 19 and October 25. You should return your ballot once you have read the instructions carefully and completed the Ballot. Don’t delay. The Ballot must be postmarked by election day and received by the registrar no later than noon on November 8.

    You can return your Ballot by:

·       Sending it via U.S mail, postmarked no later than November 5.

·       OR placing it in the Ballot Dropbox located at the Registrar’s office no later than November 5.

·       OR by returning it in-person to the Registrar’s office at the address below no later than November 5.

·       OR on Election Day returning it to the Ballot Dropbox at your polling place on November 5

Before you return the Ballot, READ the instructions enclosed with the ballot carefully, then complete the Ballot and place it in the correct envelope. Don’t forget to sign the envelope.

 Ballot Dropboxes

Ballot Dropboxes will be available at the Registrar’s Office on the same dates and times as early in-person voting and on Monday November 4, 2024, from 9:00 to 5:00 PM. They will also be available at regular polling places on Election Day, November 5.
