Updates on the Public Meetings Regarding the Nelson County Comprehensive Plan
As Previously reported, Nelson County is currently in the process of revising and updating its Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range, high-level planning document that addresses topics such as land use, development, community amenities, transportation, housing and the economy. The plan outlines the community’s long-term vision and strategies to achieve that vision. The policies defined in the document guide the County’s future direction and priorities for growth, services and land use regulation.
Three public workshops will be held:
July 13, 2022 at 5:30 pm at Nelson County High School
July 20, 2022 at 5:30 pm at Rockfish Elementary School
August 3, 2022 at 5:30 pm at the Nelson Heritage Center

Supervisor Ernie Reed of the Central District is hosting two “unofficial” Introductory Comprehensive Plan Workshops to explain and discuss the process of how the county will formulate the Comprehensive Plan and explain how everyone can effectively participate in the upcoming meetings (listed above), share ideas of his/her/their vision for the community and for the county. Supervisor Reeds meetings will occur on Monday, June 27, 2022, 7-9 pm at the Faber Volunteer Fire Station, 8207 Irish Road, in Faber on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, from 7-9 pm at the Rockfish Valley Community Center, 190 Rockfish School Lane, in Afton. Substantive ideas for what should be in the Comprehensive Plan will NOT be discussed.
