A WINNING STRATEGY IN NOVEMBER WILL DEPEND ON ALL OF US

A WINNING STRATEGY IN NOVEMBER WILL DEPEND ON ALL OF US

Connie Brennan

· Singing Joe Biden’s praises is easy, given his leadership and his achievements. What’s surprising, though, is that more people aren’t aware of how much he’s done for the country. And that needs to change if he’s going to win re-election.

Making sure President Biden receives credit where credit is due (and the votes that go along with it), is going to take our best efforts in the next 190 days. Because whether we’re volunteering for the Democratic Party or simply talking to friends, each of us has the ability to make a difference.

Where to start? Wherever you’re comfortable. It may be Biden’s unwavering commitment to abortion rights or Social Security or affordable health care or the preservation of democracy.

Or, you can start at the kitchen table. In a social media post this month, the Democratic Party noted that Trump views the world from his country club in Mar-a-Lago while President Biden sees the world from kitchen tables in Scranton, Pa. You don’t have to spend a lot of time thinking about which view is better for us.

President Biden has been laser-focused on building a strong economy that works for average Americans — no easy task coming out of a pandemic. By most measures, the U.S. economy is doing extraordinarily well, far better than the world’s other major economies.

As of March, unemployment has been below 4 percent for 26 consecutive months, the longest stretch since the late 1960s. And job growth is robust, with 303,000 jobs added in March.

To bolster the economy, create jobs and make a positive difference in the lives of Americans, Biden is responsible for landmark legislation:

·       The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, described as “a once-in-a-generation investment in America’s infrastructure and competitiveness,” provides for rebuilding roads and bridges, delivering clean and safe water, and expanding access to high-speed internet.

·       The Inflation Reduction Act provides for the single largest investment in climate and clean energy in our history, investing in America to create good-paying jobs, reducing energy and health care costs for Americans, and ensuring sure the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share in taxes.

·       The CHIPS and Science Act authorizes a nearly $53 billion investment in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing, research and development, and ensures that the U.S. has access to the semiconductors that are vital to our economy and our national security.

Is there more to do? You bet. But unlike his opponent, President Biden has proven time and time again that he’s up to the task, he puts the American people first, and he finishes what he starts. Let’s get that message across to anyone who’ll listen.
