Hands Off Mass Mobilization April 5

To Nelson Democrats and Supporters:

The grass roots movement against fascism, greed and chaos only works when people show up, and this Saturday, April 5, Americans across the country have a chance to come together and tell Trump and Musk: “Hands Off!”

Indivisible.org is one of the participating groups in this non-violent National Day of Action, which includes several nearby rallies as well as hundreds of others nationwide. Their call to action is so fundamental: “They're taking everything they can get their hands on — our health care, our data, our jobs, our services — and daring the world to stop them. This is a crisis, and the time to act is now.”

Trump absolutely hates bad publicity and being challenged, so for those of us in Nelson County who want to show up and tell him how wrong he really is, there will be a number of opportunities.

FIND AN EVENT: The main event will be held in D.C. at the Washington Monument. Events closer to home are planned for Charlottesville (on the public sidewalks starting from the intersection of Route 29 and Hydraulic Road); Staunton; Lynchburg; and Culpeper. For general info or to find events elsewhere in Virginia or the U.S., go to https://handsoff2025.com/

DO I NEED A SIGN?: Signs are great and many participants will have them, but your presence is more important. If you do want to get crafty, our friends with the Bedford Democratic Committee have some helpful sign-making tips.

SAFETY: Organizers are emphasizing the non-violent nature of this mobilization and “expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.” Go to handsoff2025.com for more info. You can read up on your rights as a protester at ACLU.org.
