Wastewater Disposal Request for Special Permit from AQUA Virginia

“Project description: Aqua Virginia, Inc. has applied for reissuance of a permit for the Wintergreen Stoney Creek STP. The applicant proposes to release treated sewage wastewaters at a rate of 0.12 million gallons per day into Allen Creek in Nelson County in the South Fork Rockfish River watershed. A watershed is the land area drained by a river and its incoming streams. The permit will limit the following pollutants to amounts that protect water quality: physical and chemical properties, nutrients, organic matter, solids, bacteria, and inorganics. Sludge from the treatment process will be pumped and hauled to Lake Monticello STP where it will undergo further treatment.”
